+ABC's of Psychology

Since one of the main topics I talk about on my blog is psychology, I decided it might be a swell idea to put the “ABC’s of Psychology” for those who know next to nothing about the subject to begin with.
  • A: Affect refers to the experience of feeling or emotion. Affect is a key part of the process of an organism’s interaction with stimuli. The word also refers sometimes to affect display, which is “a facial, vocal, or gestural behavior that serves as an indicator of affect. (Affect)
  • B: Behavior refers to the actions and mannerisms made by organisms, systems, or artificial entities in conjunction with its environment, which includes the other systems or organisms around as well as the physical environment. It is the response of the system or organism to various stimuli or inputs, whether internal or external, conscious or subconscious, overt or covert, and voluntary or involuntary. (Behavior)
  • C: Cognition is the scientific term for mental processes. These processes include attention, remembering, producing and understanding language, solving problems, and making decisions. In psychology and cognitive science, it usually refers to an information processing view of an individual’s psychological functions. It is also used in a branch of social psychology called social cognition to explain attitudes, attribution and groups’ dynamics. (Cognition)
Maybe this helps you understand some of my posts better, maybe not. I’ll continue defining things about psychology on my blog to help those who don’t know anything about psychology and cannot completely understand everything I am writing about.
